When you are wearing something really basic like a T-shirt and jeans the easiest way to bring it all together is to add an interesting layer. Although this blazer reminds me of a circus performer for some reason I love all the bright colors and its waterfall design. It’s also interesting enough on its own so I don’t have to faff around with too many accessories. Basically it’s the lazy girl’s best friend 🙂

Have a wonderful Friday everyone!

Canary Yellow

The top that I’m wearing is actually kind of more like a mustard yellow in real life but who wants to call a post “Mustard yellow”? It’s not exactly enticing is it? So canary yellow it is 🙂

Sometimes the best way to deal with a bad hair day is to put something on your head that is bold enough to take all the attention away from your messy/greasy/misbehaving strands – enter a headband. This one is definitely flashier than what I normally go for but sometimes it’s fun to be a bit daring with your accessories.

Pair a sparkling accessory with a bright top and I guarantee no-one will notice your bad hair day.

A T-shirt and jeans kinda day

The weekend is a wonderful time to reveal your inner 8-year old and pull out childish but fun T-shirts. During the week you’re at work so you have to look professional but weekends are a nice opportunity to show off your immature, I mean lighthearted, side 🙂 And what says lighthearted better than a cupcake shirt? I got this shirt on sale from Zando on a whim and love it. The material is soft and the cut is actually quite feminine.

Anyone else have an embarrassingly childish shirt they just love to wear? Please let me know I am not alone 🙂

High Tea Dress

I wore this dress when we all went to Moemas for High Tea last weekend. It’s from Spree and I absolutely love it. I usually prefer skirts over dresses because dresses sometimes feel a bit too “done up” for me, but the cream skirt of the dress is fresh and pretty while the denim top gives it a more casual feel. Plus anything that has a swirly skirt gets a thumbs up from me 🙂

The High Tea itself was incredibly decadent and it was wonderful to spend an afternoon sampling delicious desserts and treats. Speaking of treats, today is Friday, the best day of the week 🙂 Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Matchy matchy

My grandmother is an extremely elegant lady; always dressed to the nines and sniffs at tracksuits used for anything other than exercising. She is of the old-school belief that a lady always matches her lipstick to her shoes and handbag. Although my lipstick frequently clashes with my shoes and my shoes often clash with my handbag (the horror), sometimes it’s fun to be super “matchy”. If you get a nice balance and don’t overdo it (e.g. add at least 1 more color) it can make you look co-ordinated with minimum effort.

My birthday

It’s my birthday today so I am going to keep it brief …

The day started off with flapjacks with my husband at Mugg and Bean – delicious!

Yay. Google knows it’s my birthday 🙂

Cupcakes and flowers – what else does a girl need?

I’m off to spend the rest of the day with my husband and the Bostons (our dogs). Have a good evening everyone.

Maxi Dress for maxi(mum) effect

A Maxi dress is a wondrous, slightly magical thing. Why the romantic ode to the Maxi dress? Because it can make you look put together in about 3 seconds flat.

A Maxi dress with a print can make you look bohemian chic  or, if you have a slightly more classic style, like a Put-together Polly. Just slip it on and voila – you have an outfit. All you need to do now is accessorize.

As much fun as bright colors are, I also love the fresh, pastel colors that summer brings. Mint green is one of my favorite colors because it feels feminine and pretty and makes me happy. It also makes a fantastic nail polish – Has anyone tried Essie’s mint candy apple color? It’s so playful and fun.

Valentine’s night in

Fashion blogs and Pinterest are swamped with all these gorgeous, super sexy Valentine’s day outfit inspirations. But what if you’re staying in? A slinky black dress and red lipstick may make an impact but it is not exactly the most comfortable outfit to cuddle and watch movies in …

I hate going out on V-day – I find it overpriced and a bit stuffy – so my husband and I are getting some Chicken Korma and a bottle of wine and having a romantic candelit dinner at home. Even though we are just staying in, I don’t exactly want to be parading around in my PJs. So, if you are looking for some glamorous inspiration to bowl your significant other over, I may disappoint. However, if you are looking for something cute and relaxed, then I’m your girl for some low-key inspiration 🙂
