Winter Comforts

I am all about comfort when it gets colder – fleece pajamas, woolly slippers, delicious mugs of Hot Chocolate, steaming hot baths, and candles with warm scents like cinnamon and pine – I do it all. That comfort extends to my Winter wardrobe too – if it’s woolly, fluffy or an oversized knit, then it is probably in my cupboard 🙂

How do you spoil yourself in Winter? We have a tradition in my family. Every year, my mom always buys us fleece pajamas from Woolworths. Yes I am almost 30 and have been married for nearly 4 years, but I still get pajamas from my mom once a year and I am not ashamed to admit it 🙂

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Belt it

Sometimes a belt is the perfect finish to an outfit. And if it matches an accessory then it’s just the cherry on top 🙂 If I am battling to look “put together” the quickest remedy is to add a belt. When in doubt, belt it! A good belt will give your outfit an extra element, define your waist and help you look like you put in a lot more effort than you actually did. That’s a win-win in my books!

What do you use to finish off an outfit?

Blue skies and gardens

After weeks of gray skies and rain, last week  it finally cleared up. Walking around a lush, green garden was a nice way to celebrate the sun. My brother-in-law and eldest sister have the prettiest garden. D and I have been known to loiter there long after they think we have gone, just smelling all the roses and flowers. It’s not creepy, if they are family, right? 😉 Those beautiful orange flowers are Dahlia’s if anyone is interested.

Side note: Who knew I would get so much wear out of my pink Zando jeans I bought on a whim? You can also see them here and here. Now you can all roll your eyes and tell me I need to get another color. I agree 🙂 Any suggestions?

Black Blazer

I love blazers. They are a closet staple of mine because they add a level of sophistication to any outfit with minimal effort. I have blazers in various colors but a black blazer is the easiest to wear because it goes with everything.

I got this one for my birthday last month and have been trying to find an excuse to wear it ever since. Thankfully the odd chilly days we’ve been having were the perfect excuse. Don’t you love unexpectedly cold days?

For everyone in SA, have a wonderful Human Rights Day!

Military jacket

I love a good military jacket – it is the perfect item to wear when you want to look casual and relaxed, but they are also fun to glam up a bit.

If the idea of wearing a military jacket seems too tomboyish for you, give it a feminine twist with some statement earrings or a floral scarf. Not only will you look cool, but you will feel pretty too 🙂

Is there any clothing item you are absolutely loving now?

Go get some Guinness!

Why Guinness? It’s St Patrick’s Day!

PicMonkey Collage 4Because I don’t have a cute little shirt that says “Kiss me, I’m Irish” I decided to go a little more ladylike this St Patrick’s Day. It’s a bit dressy for some beer but who says you can’t look classy with a beer in your hand? 😉

Little tip: For those of you who are like me and find Guinness too strong and stout, add some blackcurrant juice in – it sweetens it up and tastes delicious! (I learned this helpful tip when D and I were in a pub in Ireland and I was struggling to sip my Guinness without pulling a face, the kind pub owner took pity on me and added some Ribena in.)

Have a fun (drinking) day everyone!
