Happy Youth Day to all the South Africans who read this blog. Hope you are having a wonderful day off 🙂
The title of this post is somewhat wishful thinking as there is not a whole lot of sunshine around here right now, but last night I came across these photos that I took a few weeks ago and forgot to post. No time like the present, although I am kind of out of season here, hopefully it will remind all of you who are bundled up in heavy coats and woolly socks that in just a few short months we will shed our numerous layers and once again wear a normal amount of clothes 🙂
So, although it’s definitely not an outfit I will be wearing again soon (unless the goosebump look is in) this is one of my favorite blazers to wear because it always makes me think of sunshine. (Oh the irony … ) I love pairing it with a more relaxed top to offset the fact that it is a pretty prim jacket. Plus it gives me more options to wear it instead of just at work.
What’s one color that always makes you happy?

How was everyone’s weekend?
It’s officially winter here in South Africa but this weekend was actually pretty hot. As a last salute to the sun, I threw caution to the wind and ditched my jerseys and scarves and wore something light. What better way is there to put off winter than with flowers, right? Don’t let my squinty eyes fool you, I really was awake when this photo was taken, it was just bright outside 🙂

I love a simple white T-shirt and jeans – it’s such a classic, easy look. But it’s also fun to take the basics and dress them up a bit – with a smarter shirt and some heels you still have the basics down, they’re just a bit more sophisticated 🙂

I hardly ever wear dresses – especially dressy dresses, but for my date night with D I decided to step out of my comfort zone and wear a LBD. The occasion? A belated birthday dinner and the 23rd of March was our 3 1/2 year wedding anniversary. That was a good enough reason for me 😉
Now, an LBD can be a tricky thing to find and I am super fussy – I like an LBD to be a little sexy but still ladylike and also have some room to breathe (and eat because there were chocolate spring rolls and amarula cream on the menu – YUM!). I think this dress from Cath.Nic (via Queenspark) is a winner! I love how it is elegant while still being a little sexy and I love the sleeves.
Anyone else have a LBD in their cupboard they love?

I love blazers. They are a closet staple of mine because they add a level of sophistication to any outfit with minimal effort. I have blazers in various colors but a black blazer is the easiest to wear because it goes with everything.
I got this one for my birthday last month and have been trying to find an excuse to wear it ever since. Thankfully the odd chilly days we’ve been having were the perfect excuse. Don’t you love unexpectedly cold days?
