How to get ready in a hurry: the outfit

I rarely run late but on the odd occasion I do, I have getting ready quickly down to a science. I would say “down to an art” but sometimes my hair is still a little messy so let’s just call it a science, okay? 😉

Step 1: Grab your basics

Basically a shirt and bottoms. Here, just go for what you know looks good and fits well – keep it simple and pick neutral colors that are easy to match e.g.  jeans for casual or black pants for work. Now is not the time to grab those pants you haven’t worn since December and want to see if they still fit. Put them back!

For casual, grab a simple white T-shirt and for work, a buttoned shirt.

Step 2: Add that interest piece

This can be a statement necklace, a gorgeous belt or even a flashy handbag. This is where picking neutral colors in Step 1 comes in handy because you don’t need to worry about matching. This step is crucial as it will help you look more polished and put together – don’t skip it!

Step 2 - Interest Work

Step 3: Disguise your hair

If you don’t have time to wash it, put some dry shampoo in and leave it at that – there’s nothing wrong with tousled hair. If your hair needs more help, add some accessories like clips or a headband or pull it all up in a bun. If you really need help grab a beanie, hat or scarf and cover up those strands.

Step 4: Pick slip-on shoes

When you’re late you don’t have time to go faffing about tying shoe laces or fiddling with zips and buckles. Grab those ballet flats, loafers or sandals and run!

Step 4 - Shoes Work

And if you’re asking where your make-up is in all this, that’s another post – but at least you’re dressed! 🙂

Anyone else got some tips on how they get ready in a hurry?

  1. This, unfortunately, is how I get dressed every morning. No pre thought out stuff for me. I want to be the kind of girl who can wake up and make myself look impeccable every day. Great tips!
